Our calorie calculator uses the scientifically validated Harris-Benedict equation to calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is the number of calories your body needs at rest. This is then multiplied by your activity level to estimate your total daily energy requirements.
Calorie Calculation Formula:
BMR for Men: 88.362 + (13.397 × weight in kg) + (4.799 × height in cm) – (5.677 × age in years)
BMR for Women: 447.593 + (9.247 × weight in kg) + (3.098 × height in cm) – (4.330 × age in years)
How to Use Your Results
- For weight loss: Consume about 500 calories less than your maintenance calories (for approximately 0.5kg weight loss per week)
- For weight maintenance: Consume around your maintenance calories
- For weight gain: Consume about 500 calories more than your maintenance calories (for approximately 0.5kg weight gain per week)
